Celebrating Earth Day by Embracing Sustainability: The Benefits of Utilizing Reclaimed Wood in Artisan Woodworking
In the world of artisan woodworking, sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's a way of life. My journey as an artist started over 40 years ago, growing up as a third-generation carpenter surrounded by the industry. When I transitioned from utilizing my carpentry skills for traditional carpentry; home remodeling and renovations, to my passion of artisan woodworking, I made it my mission to incorporate sustainability into my practice. Today, I am proud to say that 95% of the wood I use is reclaimed, primarily sourced from trees that have fallen naturally in storms or are removed for safety or disease, secondairly sourced through salvage and repurposing of material. This sustainable sourcing is a testament to my commitment to environmental stewardship.

I work with many sources to acquire reclaimed wood, primarily utilizing hardwoods such as Ash, Maple, Oak, Cherry, Mahogany, Hickory, and Beech.
