Frequently Asked Questions

  • My products fall into 3 general categories: One of a Kind; Always in Stock and General Stock items.

My “one of a kind” items are those intentionally created as unique and one of a kind; they are not able to be reproduced or recreated. The reason may be the characteristics of the wood can’t be reproduced, the item form / shape can’t be reproduced and/or it’s an item created with intension to be the only one of it’s kind. These items are marked as “one of a kind” on the product description page. Some of our “one of a kind items” include: The Egg & The Comet Collection and many of my more unique vases.

Always In Stock these are items that are (almost) always in stock. They are a standard item in our product line and will be recreated for purchase / re purchase again and again. Although the wood will look different (as all wood is unique in it’s markings) the product look, feel and pattern will remain the same. Just a few of the products we have in this line are: Plant propagators, salad tongs, chopsticks and the GHW Logo Merch.

General stock items are not specifically marked. They are items I have personally created, can be replicated. These are items like basic shape vases and bowls. The form itself is replicatable, I simply have not made multiples at this time. These are items that can be ordered and custom made if they are out of stock. Please go to my “custom order” page and message me.

  • Our products are not just eye-catching; they are designed for practicality. Each piece features a food-safe finish, making them ideal for daily use. Whether it's hot or cold items, liquids or solids, our creations seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics. From crafting your favorite salads to presenting charcuterie, vegetables, fruit, pasta, or stew, our items enhance your culinary experience.

But that's not all—they double as stylish home decor. Transform them with potpourri, dried flowers, or any creative touch you fancy. So, whether it's a family dinner or a decorative accent, our products are crafted to elevate every aspect of your daily life. Enjoy the blend of beauty and utility in each piece.

  • Each item crafted by Doug is unique, and the online listings feature the exact product you'll receive. While we edit images for quality, rest assured we prioritize accuracy. Our close collaboration with our image editor ensures that every photo is a faithful representation of the product. What you see online is a genuine reflection of the craftsmanship and quality you can expect when your handcrafted item arrives.

  • We ship via UPS daily from Monday to Saturday. Typically, orders are processed within 1-2 business days, excluding the holiday season. Please note, as a small business, we have no control over shipping costs, potential increases, or delivery times imposed by UPS or USPS. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we strive to get your handcrafted items to you in a timely manner.

  • "Live Edge" in our products refers to the natural, irregular edge just below and possibly including the bark, capturing the essence of the living tree. Identifiable by its unique and organic appearance, maintaining the live edge, especially with bark, demands a high level of skill and understanding of wood and harvesting processes. This craftsmanship contributes to the distinct character of each piece. It's essential to note that the inclusion of a live edge, with its intricate details and added complexity in handling, often results in a higher product price. We take pride in preserving the authentic beauty of each live edge creation, showcasing the raw, natural charm of the wood.

  • Located in New Jersey, I proudly use local wood for 90% of my handcrafted products. The primary wood types—maple, oak, cherry, and walnut—are all native to the New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland region. Ensuring sustainability is a priority, 90% of the wood is responsibly acquired, mainly from trees naturally downed in storms or removed for safety reasons. This commitment not only supports the local ecosystem but also contributes to the unique character of each piece. Feel good about your purchase—knowing it's not just a beautiful creation but one rooted in responsible, eco-friendly practices.
